Press kit - Kevin Langeree
Kitesurfer Kevin Langeree is known as one of the best kitesurfers of the world. The last couple of years he won several World Cup events. But the 21-year old Flying Dutchman is more then just one of the best kiters of the world. He is an ambassador of the kitesurf sport in Holland and around the globe.
Kevin Langeree is without a doubt one of the best kiteboarders in the world. But he isn’t only a great kiter. The PKRA tour (official World Cup organization) met the spontaneous and media gifted Dutchman. Each year Kevin is progressing towards his ultimate goal, become world champion. In 2008 he was the first kiter to challenge the authority of reigning champion Aaron Hadlow. For the first time since 2004, Hadlow found himself in a rivalry for the world title.
As a teenager, Kevin spent all his time at the beach and on the water. The Dutch kiting association lowered its age limit for the national championships. Just turning 14 he conquered his first national title. Over the last four years Kevin won three Dutch national championships.
The world of kitesurfing met Kevin several years ago. Just sixteen summers young, the Dutch youngster completed for his first international race. He developed himself to a world-class competitor. After he graduated from high school his kiting career accelerated. In 2006 he also won his first World Cup event ever at the Dominican Republic. Over the last two years he added World Cup victories in Germany, Fuerteventura, France, Portugal and Brazil.
The best Dutch kiter is a threat to the leadership of World Champion Aaron Hadlow. The English world leader has troubles holding onto the first spot for the first time in years. Next year we will see if Langeree keep his promise being the first Dutch kiter to ever win the world title of kitesurfing.
After the season Kevin won’t stay long in the Netherlands. With the temperature cooling down in the Holland, Kevin will pick up his practice in South Africa. The African continent holds the perfect kite circumstances to prepare for another season. To stay in shape and be ready to compete at the highest level again next year, Kevin will be on the water for hours each day.
The sport of kitesurfing is growing with extreme numbers. With the grow it also gets more attention from the Dutch and international media. Kevin appears all the time in newspapers, magazines, television shows, and other media.
